Rules

Once more, welcome to Furwars! Once again, the tournament will be held and once again, here are the rules for you to follow. This includes everything for the entry and the system. Read carefully so you can enjoy better the experience.

  1. The roster has space for 32 entries… the rule "first to deliver enters" applies.
  2. Each contestant is allowed to submit ONLY ONE CHARACTER.
  3. A requisite for the entry is to be watching Dracolicoi on FA.
  4. You must post a Journal allowing your watchers to know about the tournament (Spread the voice! Go on!)
  5. You must give 3 pictures of your character:
    • Fight pose: Posing looking to one side facing a foe. Try to avoid details that are in one side only, other wise, you’ll have to give two fighting pose, one for the use of each side.
    • Victory pose: Yes, since there won’t be a poster (or might be) I’ll be requiring a Victory pose this time to include in the next fight image.
    • Defeat pose: NO, don’t get me wrong… remember this is a tournament based on the Super Smash Bros series, the contestants show sportsmanship even in defeat clapping to the winner… that’s what I intend. A comical defeat pose, either waving a white flag, dazed eyes or so… nothing to humiliate your characters.
  6. Picture format: the pictures delivered must be on RGB format 300 dpi either .png file or .psd file. They must be delivered via mail on dracolicoi@hotmail.com (Second timers, you know how this works)
  7. Also, for the profesionalism of this tournament, an "Application form" will be needed too for the character to enter the tournament. This application form will be delivered with the pictures via e-mail. You can find it posted on FurAffinity (where the tournament will be held) or clicking here.
  8. Regarding the characters… I’m allowing almost any fur kind… YET! I’m not going to accept characters that are rip off another or that are either pokesonas or digisonas unless they are original and not related to the main characters either of pokémon or digimon. The hybrids are an exception to that rule… a mixture of two pokémon or digimon but they must look different from their sources in some way.
  9. Users that have already participated in the tournament are allowed to enter again, either with a new character or the same. Yet, I highly recommend using a different character to exploit your potential and to show difference compared to the first tournament. (This rule does not applies to certain users that either by own will or punishment during last tournament cannot enter yet can still vote).
  10. To be counted in the roster, you must have delivered the pictures and showed me the journal of your entry spreading the voice about FurWars II. No reserved spaces like last time (with the previously mentioned exceptions).
  11. Unlike previous year’s tournament, this time there will be invited characters going with the plot of this new tournament. These spaces are the only reserved places and they are for at least 3 or 4 people leaving 28-29 free spaces for the roster.

  1. First of all… The branch with the order of the battles will be posted so you know who you’re fighting in the first round. From there you can figure out your next opponents staying tuned with the outcome of the other battles. This branch will be updated according to the outcome of the tournament.
  2. The decision for the winning will not be by popularity. I ask you to inform your friends about the tournament but I also ask you to tell them to be free to vote. Do not ask for votes.
  3. There won’t be tolerance for secondary account users. This meant to be the fairest of the fairest, so using a secondary account will be denied resulting (If was the fighter in turn the one using it) in automatic lose.
  4. Each challenger must make a story detailing the battle with his own winning. These stories must be delivered to me at least three days before the tournament begins. For the second and consecutive matches, I expect the stories to be delivered at least three days before the battle; but the sooner the better. The stories must be delivered to me via mail and NOT posted on FA. About the final rounds battles where there will be less time I’ll explain personally to the ones that reach those matches how to deliver the stories.
    1. Failing to deliver the story in the right time will be 10% minus of your votes in said battle.
  5. The battles will be up for two days (The day posted and one more) for voting.
  6. The duration of the tournament will depend only on the number of characters in the roster.
  7. Though there will be a Defeated picture… this is not meant to be a humiliation. I ask you to make it a comical picture, either chibi, dazed eyes or white flag waving picture… be creative.
  8. At difference with last year’s tournament, this year there won’t be rearrangements of the battle stories… instead, I might write short stories regarding the tournament seen by the eyes of the sponsor.
  9. Again there will be judges for this tournament. The judges won’t participate with any character in the roster also to prevent favoritisms.
  10. Every voter must submit his or her vote giving a brief explanation or analysis of why they gave their vote to certain contestant.
  11. Also, this time I’ll accept no reason votes; BUT they will only count as 1/4 point since the full point needs to have an explanation of the victory reasons.
  12. For a reward, if someone makes a reasoned vote offering a point of view showing both sides pros and cons, I’ll consider that as a double vote.
  13. I won’t be accepting people to try to change the votes of others. Reason why I ask you not to respond comments in the votes to discuss the vote. This year I’m also prohibiting replying to the votes so if you want to discuss them, do it via Note. I’ll be hiding every single reply that does not come from a judge.
  14. NO HARD WORDS! If I ever see one of these comments with hard words towards another contestant or user I’ll delete it and the user that gave it won’t be accepted to vote during two battles. If he does, his vote won’t be counted.
  15. There are no second thoughts. Once you voted you cannot change your mind so take the decision wisely.

  1. The battle stats are divided in six:
    1. Power: the amount of physical strength the character has. Of this depends how powerful and devastating the physical attacks might be.

Magic: If a character has magical powers they have a certain amount of power, that amount will be in here. This is the only stat that can be turned to 0 passing that extra point to another respecting the point distribution rule.

Speed: How fast the character can move and dodge. It shall be also related with the weight of the character. A big and heavy character cannot move that fast.

Awareness: The response capacity of the character. This stat makes reference to how fast the character will and can react to the upcoming attacks or the effects of the stage in which he/she is fighting.

Physical Resistance (Ph-Resistance): How much can the character endure physically. Depending on this it will be the defense for the hand to hand attacks or weapons. A character without armor can have a good ph-endurance, but an armored character will have a superior one costing him his speed. Normally, a character with high power will have more Ph-Resistance while a character with more magic will have less of it.

Magical Resistance (Mg-Resistance): How much the character can endure magically. From it depends how much can resist a magical attack from any element. A character with high magic will have a superior Mg-Resistance and low Ph-Resistance. A character with more physical power will have less Mg-Resistance and high Ph-Resistance.

  2. Brand new Stamina Bar: This time I’ll be adding a Stamina bar! This will be explained briefly here and will have its own explanation later. Stamina bar defines how much the character can stand fighting… This is related to the Power and the Resistance.
  3. The stats will be filled with points. Obviously, I’ll be giving each stat a base value of 1 (Except Stamina), so you can built it from there. Each character will have 15 points to spend in the six stats. Each stat is up to be at maximum of 5 points (4 points from the 15 spend points plus the base point). Take in consideration the physics in here. A heavy character cannot move fast for example. And remember that if your character has no magic, he can change the magic base point to another stat not exceeding the 5 maximum points. (Points total shall be 21)
  4. The battle system for the attacks is a hybrid between Pokémon and Smash bros. Each character will have three normal attacks and a smash attack.
    • Normal attacks: Each contestant has to specify three attacks for the character. These will be in five orders of damage that will be explained later.
    • Smash attack: An “ultimate” attack, powerful and capable to make more than just hard damage. But also, only usable once during the battle.
  5. Damage levels: The damage levels are divided in five. The last two can be mixed with the first three:
    • Light damage: A light attack, does not makes a lot of damage.
    • Normal damage: A normal attack, this makes enough like a punch in the face.
    • Hard damage: A heavy attack, this is the equivalent of being hit with a baseball bat in the head for example.
    • Bludgeoning damage: This kind of damage can be light, normal or hard. It’s dealt with smashing things like fists and paws/feet. The common damage done is this.
    • Piercing damage: This kind of damage is light or normal. Does not pierce deadly but it does pierces armor and barriers.
  6. Some attacks might be up to cause secondary effects (special conditions) or fail if used at range or at close distance depending on the character skills. This percentage must be added to the description of the attack in the following form after the description of the attack: “Wild dive: Flies up high in the sky and dives with a powerful punch or kick that inflicts hard damage. 50% Accuracy.” Or “Crimson bolt: inflicts Thunder heavy damage. 30% chance of Paralysis.
  7. For a need in the space of the layout, the attack description must not exceed one and a half line of word using Arial Narrow 12. This includes the percentage of fail and success. In the case the attack has a large description focus more on what it does in a few words: “Inflicts elemental damage” or “Mace of the winds: Hits the opponent with a spinning kick”. Don’t go detailing too much the attack like: “Jumps in the sky and then once in the air swings a heavy mace over his head making a tornado that when lands raises a cloud of dust that blinds the opponent allowing her to slam him dealing hard damage with the chance of paralysis. 30% chance of Paralysis.
  8. By no reasons I’ll be accepting One-Hit-KO attacks.
  9. For the stories, by no motive a character can kill the other. There are no deaths in this tournament. If this happens the character posting that “killing” story will be losing automatically.
  10. Special conditions: there are six special conditions.
    • Burn: The character that gets burnt will have the power reduced by one and will receive from light to moderate (a bit less than normal) damage depending on the Mg-Endurance. Wears off according also to the Mg-Resistance.
    • Paralysis: A paralyzed character will have the speed reduced by one and have limited movement. Will wore off depending in the Mg-Resistance.
    • Poisoned: Some characters might use poison, so a poisoned character will have his health going down reducing his speed and power by one. Will wear off depending on the Ph-Resistance.
    • Confused: A confused character will have a 50% of probabilities to damage self with normal damage. Wears off depending on the Awareness.
    • Frozen: A frozen character has the speed reduced to 0 and cannot move or attack. Wears off depending on both Resistances (Physical to break thru the ice and magical to resist the ice itself).
    • Asleep: A sleeping character cannot move nor attack unless one of his attacks allows it. Wears off depending on both Resistances and Awareness.
  11. Each battle will take place in a special arena that might or might not have penalties and benefits.

  1. The stamina bar has a max of 100 (No character shall reach that max for obvious reasons)
  2. To more or less calculate the Stamina you shall take in consideration both Resistances and Power. The more resistance you have the higher stamina you’ll get. But it also depends on the owner of the character.
  3. The stamina will not be reduced visually, it will only work as a way to figure out how much a character can stand.
  4. Having more stamina doesn’t means a character is stronger. It could be strong but also have a low stamina. This depends on the owner of the character. You are up to decide the amount of Stamina your character will have taking the previous information in consideration.
  5. Stamina, since is physical, gets reduced easily with magic so a magical character can wear off a physical character with magic. Never the less this comes equivalent considering that a magical character will have less stamina than a physical character, the odds are even, either magic works first of brawns exhaust the wizard.

  1. I’ll be adding a Victory and Defeat speech for the tournament to make more interactive that area, not only a pose but a dialogue.
  2. Speeches come in two versions: Spoken words and thoughts. For each I’ll use different dialogue bubbles (doted ended for thoughts and tailed for words).
  3. The speech must not contain harassment for the winner nor the users.
  4. It should be a brief line, not too long so it fits.
  5. Joking is fine like “You do know I let you win, right?”
  6. For no reasons I’ll accept similar phrases using insulting words like suck, fuck, asshole or similar. Users that decide to use these will be warned from the beginning and asked to change it. If during the tournament they commit one single mistake they will be disqualified.
  7. IF by any chance your character speaks another language (Symbol language) like is the nergal language from Grim Tales, to make an example, the user must provide the speech symbols on .png for its use on the speech bubbles.

  1. The battles will be judged by two or three referees (Including me) that have to be partial.
  2. The judgment goes over the stories too. If the story is well detailed and have heavy evidence of the victory of that character will be taken in consideration. (This is up to the voters too).
  3. The referees cannot vote during the battles. Only moderate messages and give warnings in case one of the prior rules is broken (Like trying to change the mind of someone’s vote).
  4. As stated before, trying to change the votes won’t be accepted.
  5. If a referee is not doing his work well, just name it and will be reprehended. That includes me. If you see I’m doing something I mustn’t tell. Don’t be afraid of the judges to bane you. We are only servers in this event. Not executioners.
  6. The votes will be taken in deliberation. Of course the votes will be definitive if they are really showing a good reason. The following and some others not listed here won’t be accepted as reasons: “Because he/she is my friend” “Because I was asked to vote” “Because he/she looks sexy”… Please, stick to reasons that make logic in the encounters.

This time around there won’t be three places, only one. Why? Well, in last tournament I designed the prizes for three places since, even the first one was a full commission, this was backgroundless (In the meaning that I didn’t made it by hand but with an edited picture). This year the prize will be a full art + background free commission from me. This includes fur/scales effects, designed background, play of shadows and lights, ambient effects and up to two characters in the prize (Better if is only one since it would take me a lot of time drawing two). Again, I’ll work on almost any theme with certain exceptions. The banned themes are: unwilling enslavement, bondage, Scat, Humiliations, Public humiliation, Murdering and Snuff.

I might design a new poster for this tournament… but it will have to be for everyone and not for the winner alone. But then again, as I said, I might… not that I will.
